The Power Of It – Outsourcing To Other People
by Steven Downward in An Entrepreneurs StoriesSo how important is it – outsourcing to other people? Is it really something that you want to be doing in your business? In actual fact, it is, and there is a couple of very precise reasons why you want to be doing this.
1) Skills – In your business, you want to be having expert people doing as much of the work as you can. Through having an expert doing what they are good at means that you will save a massive amount of time from you having to figure out how to do it. It will also get done correctly the first time.
2) The Productivity Pyramid – This is really talking about you. In short terms it basically says that you need to be doing the most productive thing possible at any given moment. If you are doing a task that you can pay someone $15/hr to do but another task that you could be doing will generate your business $25/hr, then you need to hire someone to do the $15/hr task. It is tat simple.

So like I talked about in the video, the power of it, outsourcing to other people, is very very important. Through doing this, outsourcing as much as you can for your business means that you will have more time to work “ON” your business instead of “IN” your business. This is how the real productivity happens. This is how your business really grows fast.
So I said that I would put up a couple of links of different places where you can go to get a specialist to do the work for you. The two places I go are:

Both of these places have people that you can hire to do anything from build you a little graphic for a website to building a full website to book keeping to lawyers. You can find all sorts of different people to take care of all sorts of different area’s of your business.
So I would recomend sitting back for a minute and looking at your business and deciding if there is some area that you are spending a lot of time on that might help your business grow faster if you hire someone else to do it for you.

A few observations Steve.
I know there are those who think that outsourcing is bad. They feel it takes away from employing Americans. What takes away from employment is the never ending rules and compliance regulations brought on by the government, special interests, and those who think everything has to be equitable. This is simply isolationist thinking.
They will also tout that it is exploitation. The real truth is that the people we employ outside of the United States eagerly like the work because it represents a significant advance in their living standard. I am helping feed a family, supplying clothes and shoes to children. In most cases, you may be the only source of income they have.
Why in my right mind would I choose to pay someone stateside when I can provide someone and their family some dignity. There of course are exceptions to the rule and somethings that are needed to be done locally, but consider how you are helping people who need it more.

Secondly, Many times the price of an individual project or two may exceed the price that you can hire someone full time for. That is also a consideration. If you employ someone who is sharp and at a minimum, trainable, you could train them and have someone who it very loyal to helping you manage your outsource needs.

@Chris Kilber, I feel very similar Chris. I believe that we are in a world economy now and I look at people from anywhere. If someone is going to do a job better and they cost less, why wouldn’t I go for that person. But there is one thing in there, doing the job better.
If the person or group of people that are hired are cheaper but don’t do a good job, chances are they will not get hired again. By doing good work, people will talk and share your work. Then it will not matter what you charge because people will pay.
